OpenAI has partnered with data center company Nscale and engineering firm Aker to develop the Stargate Norway data center. This facility is targeted to deliver 100,000 Nvidia GPUs by the end of 2026, with significant expansion planned for subsequent years.

Located in Kvandal, outside Narvik in northern Norway, the site was recently announced by Aker. Nscale, which also runs a data center in Glomfjord, southern Norway, will own the new Stargate facility in a 50/50 joint venture with Aker. Both companies have committed roughly $1 billion to the initial phase of the project, which includes over $250 million in equity.
