Fotowatio: Lusitanus Project

The Lusitanus project is a massive €2.8 billion ($3.24bn) artificial intelligence-focused data center campus planned for the ExpacioMérida industrial park in Extremadura, Spain. Developed by Spanish renewables firm Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a subsidiary of Jameel Energy, the project blends digital infrastructure with clean energy.

Backed by a 240,000-square-meter land reservation, the development allocates €2.1 billion to state-of-the-art data infrastructure and €700 million to dedicated renewable energy generation and battery storage, allowing the entire campus to be powered by more than 80% self-generated green energy.
