Originally known as Zendmast Smilde, the telecom and data tower in Hoogersmilde was activated on November 24, 1959. This structure stands at a total height of 303 meters. In 2007, Cellnex acquired this tower, along with 23 other Dutch towers, from the telecom company KPN. Following a collaboration with CJ2 in April 2015, the tower was renamed CJ2 Datatoren.
