Bataan Nuclear Power Plant

The Philippines' sole nuclear power plant, built between 1976 and the mid-1980s, is slated for conversion into a data center. Despite its completion, the 621MW facility, which became the nation's largest source of foreign debt, was never operational. A 2017 proposal by the Department of Energy to repurpose the plant as a data center, amidst calls for its revival, is now being pursued.
