Equinix: Lisbon Prior Velho Campus

Equinix's Lisbon campus sits on Avenida Severiano Falcão in Prior Velho, in the municipality of Loures. The industrial district lies about 2.5 km from Lisbon airport and close to the motorway network.

• History: LS1 was built as Carrierhouse, one of Iberia's first carrier-neutral facilities. It later traded under Telvent and then Itconic, a Carlyle company. Equinix bought Itconic, including LS1, for €215 million in 2017.
• Expansion: Equinix decided in 2018 to build LS2 on the neighbouring plot as LS1 neared full occupancy. LS2 is a three-storey concrete building with three data halls. Equinix puts the investment near €100 million across all phases.
• Power: E-REDES supplies the campus. LS1 has one utility feeder and three 1,750 kVA diesel generators (N+1). LS2 has two feeders and, at full build, six 2.25 MVA diesel generators (N+1). Renewable-energy certificates cover both buildings.
• Interconnection: more than 2,000 interconnections, 45+ networks and four internet exchanges, including Gigapix, with campus cross connects between LS1 and LS2. Lisbon is a landing hub for subsea systems including EllaLink, Equiano, 2Africa and Medusa.
• Next site: Equinix has said a third Lisbon data center, LS3, will be in the Lisbon area. Loures council has offered to host it.
