Malaysia: YTL announces $256m green loan for Johor data center

YTL Corp has announced that it has secured an RM1.1 billion ($256m) green loan for its upcoming data center in Johor, Malaysia. The fund will be used to develop a 48MW data center in Johor, in the Kulai area, which the company is aiming to obtain Gold LEED certification for.
"As one of the key relationship banks to YTL, we are pleased to extend our banking support towards YTL's first green financing facility," said Dato' Muzaffar Hisham, group CEO of global banking at Maybank.
Meanwhile, Tan Ai Chin, managing director, senior banker, and head of investment banking at OCBC Bank, commented: "We are pleased to have the honor of working with YTL, a leading international conglomerate, in structuring and lead arranging its first green financing which signifies YTL's commitment to a sustainable circular ecosystem."
"The YTL Green Data Center Park is a cornerstone project and we are pleased to partner Maybank and OCBC on this landmark venture," added YTL Power managing director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong.
