Amazon AWS: Wesfarmers OneDigital Enters a Five-Year Contract With AWS

OneDigital, a division of the Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers, has inked a five-year agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to be its principal cloud provider. Amazon will also equip the Australian business with an AWS Skills Guild to educate and certify 500 workers. Wesfarmers, one of the country's largest private employers works across retail, industrial, fertilizer, chemical, and safety goods; however, Wesfarmers OneDigital covers solely its digitally native companies. With 1.5 million digital payments and 210 million digital interactions each month, the company's managing director Nicole Sheffield stated that they realized they needed to get to where their clients were, and where their clients are [is] progressively shop online with them online and in-store, but they really had to lay out their ecosystem. 

As per Sheffield, the organization needs a cloud partner, and Amazon has assisted them in developing an adaptive platform for integrating the many data sources. Sheffield said that Amazon MSK [managed streaming for Apache Kafka] is at the heart of the OnePass platform. This has enabled them to manage their infrastructure and streamline their operations. Their development and DevOps teams will find this extremely valuable. OneDigital is Wesfarmers's data and digital subsidiary, with headquarters in Perth, WA. It also manages the OnePass subscription program, the online marketplace Catch, and the group's shared data asset, OneData, formerly known as the Advanced Analytics Centre. In November 2022, the organization joined with Snowflake and began utilizing its Data Cloud. Numerous Wesfarmer-owned or partially-owned businesses, such as Kmart, Target, Officeworks, and Flybuys, utilize AWS as their primary cloud provider.
