Jun 24, 2022 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

The Vice President of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, has opened a 12MW data center in Accra, Ghana. The data center was developed to Tier IV standards. The data center was constructed by Onix. Onix is also claiming that the facility is the only African-based carrier-neutral co-location data center not located in South Africa. African Infrastructure Investment managers own the data center, situated at Amrahia in the Adentan Municipality, Ghana.

In addition, the data center is located close to submarine cables for international data traffic. The data center is partially powered by solar energy. Ghana’s VP expressed his excitement about the data center. He noted that the data center would promote the digitization of Ghana while also assisting the Government in going digital.

There are 5 data centers in Accra.
