Vantage Data Centers has made its first land purchases in Texas, both in San Antonio. The San Antonio Report reads, based on public records from Bexar County, that Vantage has acquired 89 acres of land in San Antonio spread across two separate parcels.
On August 9, the firm purchased 31 acres at the north corner of the intersection of State Highway 151 and Wiseman Boulevard. VHS San Antonio Partners, a division of Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Dallas, was the previous owner of Baptist Medical Center and other San Antonio hospitals. Since 2007, the properties have been owned by VHS San Antonio. Microsoft maintains a single nearby data center.
The University of Texas System Board of Regents sold 57.9 acres in Texas Research Park to Vantage at the end of July. This land is located near where Omicron Drive and Theta Drive intersect. The 15000 Lambda Drive location is home to Microsoft's massive campus. The SAT46 data center, which covers 79,385 square feet, was just finished by the company at its Research Park location. The site will exceed 1,000,000 square feet once construction is finished.
Across the United States, Vantage operates data center campuses in Virginia, Washington, Arizona, and California. The company wants to build in Atlanta, Georgia, as well.
