The University of Minnesota moves ahead with $70 million-plus data center on the East Bank campus

The University of Minnesota has announced that it's moving forward with a new $70 million-plus data center on the East Bank campus. The university is reportedly accepting design proposals for a two-story, 33,000-square-foot "Advanced Operations Center." 

The facility will be located west of the Lions Research Building and northwest of Huntington Bank Stadium.

The University aims to break ground on the facility by October 2024, with a view to completing construction in November 2025. Predictions are that it won't be operational until the middle of 2026. 

There are 73 data centers in Minnesota.
