Australian telecommunication firm Swoop Holdings has acquired 100 percent of Countrytell Holdings for AU$4.2 million (US$3). Swoop paid half in cash and the other half in Swoop shares. Countrytell is a regional connectivity provider in Newcastle, New South Wales. Countrytell was founded in 2001, and it operates a fixed wireless network with more than 30 towers.

CEO of Swoop Holdings, Alex West, said: “Acquiring Countrytell’s network provides another opportunity for Swoop to further expand the coverage of our infrastructure footprint in regional Australia, as well as providing additional services via its data center operations.” He also noted that Countrytell had invested immensely in upgrading its wireless network infrastructure, giving Swoop the right platform to continue growing.
