Start Campus Starts Work on Its 495MW Data Center Project

Start Campus has announced that it is starting development on a new data center campus in Portugal. Start Campus is owned by Pioneer Point Partners and Davidson Kempner. The company will break ground on the first phase of the Sines 4.0 facility. The data center is located in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone. Sines 4.0 will offer a capacity of 495MW upon full build-out.
The development’s first phase will cost €130 million. The development will see Start develop a building that spans 53,800 square feet (5,000 square meters). In addition, the facility will offer 15MW of capacity across 6 data halls. Start Campus schedules this phase to come online in Q1 2023. The CEO of Start Campus, Afonso Salema, said developing Sines 4.0 is an incredible milestone for the company. He noted that the development focuses on sustainability and digital transformation.
The Sines 4.0 campus would be developed on 60 hectares of land. It will feature five buildings with a 90MW capacity each.
