Stack Infrastructure has announced the opening of a data center in Siziano, outside Milan, Italy. The MIL02 data center has a capacity of 10MW, and it spans 97,000 square feet (9,000 square meters). Interestingly, Stack completed the data center in under 12 months. The new data center was developed on land it acquired in 2021. The expansion sees the site’s live data center capacity to 1.3 million square feet (120,000 square meters) and over 50MW.

Stack also revealed that it still owns over 1 million square feet (100,000 square meters) of expansion space in Siziano. The company also noted that the land could support up to 80MW in capacity. The CEO of Stack EMEA, John Eland, said the company believes Italy has high potential in the worldwide data center market. He continued by saying: “Our latest investment in the region is a key component to our EMEA expansion strategy and solidifies our position as our clients’ trusted development and operational partner in the markets most essential to their own growth.”

Stack’s Italian data center campus was formerly known as Supernap Italia. Supernap International was founded as a partnership between ACDC Holdings fund and Switch in 2014. The goal was to develop data centers across the globe based on the designs of Switch’s Tier IV Las Vegas data center. IPI Partners completed the acquisition of Supernap Italia in 2021. It later went on to rebrand under the Stack name in 2022.
