A fiber company owned by the Polish government is constructing a data center in Gliwice. 24Gliwice reported that the Silesian Metropolitan Network (SSM) had purchased land at the intersection of Bojkowska and Toruska Streets in Gliwice.
SMM is a municipal government ICT network operator that was founded in 2009 and is owned by the government of Gliwice. The company recently paid nearly $1 million for the land in the Trynek region of the city, where it intends to construct a Municipal Data Center. The facility's specifications were not disclosed.
The new facility will predominantly serve the local government, specifically the organizational units of the city, as well as municipal companies and other Gliwice-related entities.
