Spain: Several Companies Including QTS, DAMAC, Prime DC, and Pure Looking To Expand into Spain

Many US data center firms and developers are looking to enter the Spanish data center market. They are looking to develop or acquire the facilities in the country. According to Cinco Dias, Blackstone – through QTS, Prime DC, Pure, and DAMAC are exploring options to buy land and build data centers. In addition, these companies have also reportedly opened files with energy companies. However, of all these companies, only Pure has made its intentions to develop a data center in Spain to the public.
Blackstone acquired QTS in 2021. The company predominantly operates in the US. It also has a European presence in the Netherlands after it acquired two data centers in the country in 2019. It also recently bought more land in the country last month. The company is reportedly looking to expand its European presence into Europe. DAMAC recently launched a Dubai-based hyperscale data center developer called Edgnex. Edgnex is currently developing a 20MW facility in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Other companies looking to develop data centers in Spain include NTT, Interxion, CyrusOne, Renta, Equinix, EdgeConnex, and Global Switch.
