Edged Energy has topped out its latest facility at its Chicago, Illinois campus. The company said it has completed structural work on its second building at the site at 2835 Bilter Road in Aurora. The ORD01-2 data center is fully pre-leased, will deliver 72MW of capacity, and is scheduled to go live in Q2 2027. The single-story facility will use waterless closed-loop cooling provided by sister company ThermalWorks. It is designed to support up to 120kW per rack with air cooling and up to 400kW per rack with liquid cooling.
“As demand for AI infrastructure accelerates, speed, efficiency, and sustainability must advance together,” said Mitch Fonseca, COO of Edged US. “Reaching this milestone in Aurora reflects the strength of our partnerships, the dedication of our construction teams, and our commitment to delivering high-performance infrastructure designed for the future of compute. We’re proud to continue investing in the Chicago region with infrastructure that supports innovation while dramatically reducing environmental impact.”
The first 24MW facility at Edged Energy’s Chicago campus opened in February 2025. Once fully built out, the 65-acre site will deliver a total of 96MW capacity. Edged, formerly known as Edged Energy, is part of Endeavour, founded by Aligned founder Jakob Carnemark. The company has data centers operating or under development across Spain, Portugal, and multiple US states, including Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois.
