Sabey Data Centers has announced that work has started on a new data center campus in Round Rock, Texas. The company broke ground on the new 40-acre site. The facility will also span 40,000 square meters (430,000 square feet) across two buildings. It will also have up to 72MW in capacity upon full build-out. Sabey plans to launch the facility in Q2 2023.
The VP of Sabey Data Centers, Jeffrey Kanne, said expanding in Texas helps meet the increased demand for digital infrastructure. He also added that the company would do whatever it takes to continue deploying in Austin. The data center was first announced in February 2022. At the time, Sabey noted that it would demolish the old Sears Telesery building at 1300 Louis Henna Blvd to house the facility.
The President of Sabey Data Centers, Rob Rockwood, said: "Sabey is dedicated to meeting our customers' increased demand for digital infrastructure and thrilled that this market expansion will pave the way for future technology developments in the region."
The facility’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by representatives from Sabey Data Center, Round Rock officials, and Round Rock Chamber representatives.
