African data center operator Raxio Group has announced its plans to expand in Tanzania, with its 'Raxio Tanzania' facility, which is the first carrier-neutral, privately-owned Tier III data center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The facility will be 'multi-megawatt' and meet Uptime Tier III standards according to the company. Details around the facility's size have not yet been shared, however, reports indicate that it is set to be commissioned in 2023.
Speaking about the company's decision to expand, Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group and Partner at Roha Group, a US investment firm that has invested in Raxio, said: "Our decision to build Tanzania's first Tier III carrier neutral facility highlights our commitment to our strategy to deliver the vital digital infrastructure needed on the African continent. As the second-largest telecoms market in East Africa, with growing demand for connectivity and related services and its strategic location, Tanzania becomes an important centerpiece of our growing portfolio."
