QTS Realty Trust has acquired up to 400 acres of land in Phoenix, Arizona, for $255 million. The data center REIT also acquired land in the Netherlands for $9 million. QTS acquired the Phoenix property from First Industrial Realty Trust Inc. and Merit Partners Inc. QTS currently operates a facility at 1200 40th Street in Phoenix, Arizona. The facility currently has a capacity of 42MW. QTS also plans to expand the campus into hosting over 280MW.

QTS also bought the land in the Netherlands from Groningen Seaports. The land is situated next to QTS’ existing data centers in Groningen. This is a move that could see QTS expand its data center in the province. Interestingly, QTS is looking to expand its data center presence in the country after the Dutch government banned the development of new hyperscale data centers.
