A new campus for its data centers is being built by QTS on 400 acres of land in York County, South Carolina. Citing York County real estate documents, BizJournal reports that two entities linked with QTS Realty Trust LLC have acquired nearly 400 acres off S.C. Highway 274 for more than $11.2 million over the past few weeks.

According to public records, one of the entities, QTS York I LLC, bought its land from Catawba River Investments LLC. The land of the other entity, QTS York II LLC, was acquired from York County. According to the Daily Herald, one of the parcels was located at 2107 Hands Mill Highway, and the other was a neighboring parcel at 5805 Campbell Road.

York County's portion of the land, at 2157 Hands Mill Highway, was sold to the company as part of 'Project Cobra,’ a $1 billion data center project first announced in June 2023. The county council is contemplating several tax exemptions for the development. Currently, specifics regarding the number, size, and capacity of the data center campus are unknown. The land along Hands Mill Highway is predominantly undeveloped.
