PubMatic announces its global data centers are now fully powered by renewable energy

Jun 23, 2022 | Posted by MadalineDunn

PubMatic has reportedly achieved 100% renewable energy across all of its data centers globally, including in California, New Jersey, London, Amsterdam, and Singapore. Sourced from wind and solar power, this achievement is a significant one for the company, whose energy usage is 90% composed of data center usage.

The digital advertising company achieved this milestone through working with colocation providers and procuring energy through virtual power purchase agreements (vPPA) and retail supply agreements and is part of its 'comprehensive sustainability strategy,' which will be elaborated on when published at the end of the year.

Speaking about what this means for the company, Rajeev Goel, co-founder and CEO at PubMatic, said: "The digital advertising supply chain of the future will be transparent and efficient, and it will also be responsible. The advertising industry must focus on reducing its environmental impact and prioritize sustainability in infrastructure and operational practices." Adding: "I am proud of what PubMatic has been able to achieve to date, and it is just the first step towards building a more environmentally sustainable business."

There are 299 data centers in California.
