India’s Pi Data Centers is developing a 23MW facility in Mumbai, on the country’s west coast. The company announced on Monday that the first phase will go live in August, delivering 3MW of capacity. Real estate consultancy JLL advised on the data center lease transaction.
Pi Data Centers is led by CEO Kalyan Muppaneni, who also serves on the board of Indian server manufacturer Exatron. The company currently operates 60MW of capacity through a data center in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, and is set to launch a 3MW facility in Hyderabad, Telangana, in October this year. It also lists a 3MW data center in Kochi on its website.
Mumbai is one of India’s largest data center hotspots, home to operators including PDG, Equinix, STT, ESR, NTT, and Lumina CloudInfra.
