The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded a $2.7 billion contract to Peraton. The contract will see Peraton manage DHS’s shift to the cloud from an on-premises computing environment. Although the award shows Perspecta as the winner of the contract, the firm was acquired for $7.1 billion in May. The new firm is now conducting business as Peraton.
Peraton will begin managing DHS’s hybrid computing environment (HCE). The HCE includes a combination of cloud and data center components. One major part of the contract is that Peraton will manage some operations at the NASA Stennis Center in Mississippi. The facility is leased, and it is called DHS Data Center 1. With the contract, Peraton will help DHS advance the change of IT capabilities from its asset-based model to a service-based IT business model.
