Together with the Parc de l'Alba Consortium (comprising Catalan Land Institute -INCASÒL- and the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council), Panattoni has announced plans to develop the largest ever data center campus in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Catalonia, following the purchase of a 60,000 sqm plot of land 20km from Barcelona.
The project, which will include two 8,542 sqm (91,945 sq ft) buildings, is primed to see an investment of 300 million euros, and will have a capacity of 42 MW. The first phase of the project is to begin at the end of the year, offering approximately 42,000 sqm of space.
Speaking about the project, Jose María Guilleuma, Director of the Colliers Data Center Division, said that it confirms the position of the Barcelona metropolitan area as a prime location for data centers in the Mediterranean, as it prepared to become a key player in the market. Further, Guilleuma outlined that the location will contribute to expanding digital infrastructure throughout Southern Europe and North Africa.
Meanwhile, Silvia Sorribas, General Director of Telam Partners, also highlighted Spain's potential in the market due to its geographical situation and institutional stability, positioning it as a key destination for strategic investments in Europe.
