In further efforts to decarbonize, Orange has announced that it is deploying solar panels at its Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso data centers. Reports are that the deployments will average at 1MWp.

These solar panels will be deployed by SolarX, part of investment firm Omnium Invest, and will reportedly cover approximately 50% of the company's data center power requirements in Assabou (Yamoussoukro), and 37 percent of the needs in Balkuy (Ouagadougou).

"Pursuing its ambition to be a green operator and achieve net zero carbon by 2040, the Orange Côte d'Ivoire Group is accelerating the use of renewable energy to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment," Orange Côte d'Ivoire said.

Details regarding the specifications of the data centers and the solar deployment have not yet been shared.
