Oman’s state-backed renewable energy company O-Green is developing AI-ready data centers in Oman, Spain, and other European markets. The company aims to have more than 200MW of data center capacity operational by 2028. Founded last year, O-Green was established to support Oman’s energy transition and develop an integrated clean energy platform. Its shareholders include state-owned Naqaa Sustainable Energy and OQ Alternative Energy.
O-Green operates through three divisions: O-Green Power, which develops renewable energy projects; O-Green Technologies, focused on wind turbines and green technology; and O-Green Compute & Data Centers, which develops AI-ready cloud and hyperscale facilities powered by renewable energy in Oman and Europe. O-Green Power’s portfolio spans 12 countries and exceeds 11GW, including more than 3.3GW of secured wind and solar capacity and over 2.3GWh of battery storage projects in Oman and Botswana.
O-Green has installed what it says is the largest onshore wind turbine outside mainland China at Duqm, Oman, supporting the country’s Vision 2040 renewable energy goals. Oman is also expanding as a regional digital hub, with new submarine cables and data center projects. In May, companies from Oman, the UAE, and Italy agreed to develop a 150MW hyperscale AI data center, while Oracle launched its second OCI Dedicated Region in the country last year. Oman has 15 data centers, including Equinix facilities in Muscat and Salalah.
