Ohio: Ohio’s school retirement fund aims to invest in target data centers in future

Ohio’s school retirement fund wants to invest in life science offices and data centers in 2022. The Ohio School Employees Retirement System plans to hire managers to look into real estate investment like data centers since it offers higher rent growth opportunities in its annual investment plans.

According to the report, real estate investments like life science, data centers, and medical office have a higher rent growth and more stable income. The school’s retirement fund also said 10.1% of its real estate portfolio was allocated to specialty properties which include data centers, at the end of 2020. In addition, the fund said it made a new commitment of $100 million during 2020 to this sector.
