Novva Data Centers has announced a new data center in Storey County. Set to go live in late 2024, the facility will span 300,000 sqft on a 20 acre-campus and offering 60 MW of capacity.
The data center will have a total of six 10MW data halls and accommodate high-density deployments with hot air containment, as well as having a dedicated on-site 100mw N+1 substation, which will supply scalable power from NV Energy.
Wes Swenson, founder and CEO of Novva Data Centers, shared that the "tech-forward" facility is also being built with sustainability in mind, with its proprietary water-free cooling system. This system also features a recyclable polypropylene chilled water pipe, which the company shared will down on water demand from nearby Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River.
Further, the facility will be bolstered with autonomous aerial drone security, robotic dog monitoring, and perimeter security gates featuring 24/7 monitoring.
Speaking about the company's selection of Storey County, Swenson said that the area is a "growing tech hub," nearby major western cities with access to renewable energy alternatives and "attractive" sales and use tax abatement programs.
Lara Mather, Business Development Officer for Storey County, echoed these sentiments, and called Storey County an "ideal location" for enterprises looking to put down roots. "Data center facilities like Novva's make the area even more attractive to prospective business residents," said Lara Mather, adding: "Novva's sustainability-first mindset fits well with ongoing environmental initiatives spearheaded by the county. We look forward to welcoming Novva to the tech-rich landscape of the TRIC."
Construction will begin on the facility shortly, being the fourth location for the company alongside its existing facilities in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and West Jordan, Utah, as well as a soon-to-be-opened facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
