Green hydrogen and ammonia producer EverWind Fuels is exploring plans to add data centers at its industrial site in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, Canada. The company confirmed to CBC that its long-term plans could include data center development at the site, near Port Hawkesbury.
EverWind spokesperson Claire Parsons said the company is “exploring opportunities to host a data center” at the existing industrial site.

“A potential data center development would complement those plans by strengthening the energy and infrastructure platform at Point Tupper, while attracting new industries that can create good jobs and contribute to Nova Scotia’s economic growth,” she said.

EverWind has informed Richmond County officials but has not yet filed a data center application. Details on capacity and timelines remain undisclosed. The Point Tupper project aims to produce 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, with its first phase potentially operational by 2029. A second phase would add 800,000 tonnes of capacity. EverWind is also developing 650MW of wind projects across Nova Scotia, expected online around 2028, to support the plant’s energy needs. An Indigenous consortium led by Membertou First Nation owns a majority stake.

A second phase will add three wind farms in Guysborough and St. Mary’s: Setapuktuk, Ocean Lake, and Harbour Hills. They will connect directly to the fuel plant through the Strait Crossing Transmission Line, an overhead line approved last year. EverWind is backed by Nuveen and acquired the Point Tupper fuel terminal from NuStar Energy in 2022. The site was formerly part of the Gulf Oil Refinery. The nearby 150MW Point Tupper Generating Station opened in 1973 and is planned to switch from coal to natural gas from 2029.everwind_fuels.width-358.webp
