NEXTDC: NextDC Reveals New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan Data Center Initiatives

Plans for new data center projects in New Zealand, Malaysia, and Japan have been subtly added to NextDC's website. The prospective plans to expand in New Zealand were initially reported by Reseller News a few weeks ago. They stated that the company had purchased several blocks of land in central Auckland. The update to the company's website only just now confirms it.

The company says its upcoming data center in New Zealand, which it has given the name "AK1," will be connected in a low-latency manner to Australian cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Perth. However, the data center's size and capacity have not been made public. Likewise, the company is planning a data center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - KL1 - and yet another in Tokyo, Japan - TK1 - neither of which have been reported on previously. Although no information has been released about the facilities, it can be assumed that both will have "world class" security operating around the clock and 100% uptime.

NextDC operates data centers in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Port Hedland, Canberra, the Sunshine Coast, Adelaide, as well as Darwin in Australia. The company obtained a $279 million debt facility in January of this year. This was added to an existing $1.7 billion debt facility loaned by HSBC and NAB to finance the company's development ambitions in the Asia-Pacific region.
