NextDC has revealed its plan to expand to Darwin, Australia’s Northern Territory. It would be developing a Tier III data center called D1 in Darwin’s Central Business District. NextDC didn’t reveal the details of the facility’s specifications and the cost of the land it acquired.

CEO of NextDC, Craig Scroggie, said the company is delighted that the Northern Territory Government of Australia chose NextDC as its strategic partner to help improve the territory’s digital industry. He also added that the development of the digital infrastructure would help support and speed up the digital gateway in northern Australia.

According to NextDC, Vocus will provide high-capacity connectivity to the D1 facility on its Terabit Territory fiber network. In addition, Vocus will also be the anchor tenant at the facility. Not only that, but D1 will also support the deployment of Vocus’ fiber infrastructure in the north of Australia.
