According to reports, NextDC is looking to acquire Global Switch’s Asia-Pacific arm. The Australian data center firm has contacted Macquarie Capital to find a financial partner for the purchase. Global Switch has been looking to sell its business for more than a year. Besides, it was in discussions with potential acquirers in January 2021 for a possible $11 billion sale. In addition, companies like Digital Realty, DigitalBridge Group, Equinix, Brookfield Asset Management, and KKR were weighing up a purchase back in November 2021.

Currently, no figures are being discussed for the potential acquisition of Global Switch’s APAC business. However, it is expected that the fee should be around half the price of the $11 billion price tag for the entire company. NextDC currently has a market cap of $5 billion.
