Syntagma Capital has entered into exclusive discussions with fiber optic manufacturer Nexans to buy its LAN/data center (LAN/DC) and Telecom /Fiber (FTTx) divisions. The financials of the transaction were not disclosed, but it is anticipated that a deal would be finalized by the end of the first period of 2023, subject regulatory clearances and the satisfaction of normal closing conditions. Nexans, established in Paris, specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of optical fiber and copper-based smart connection solutions for data centers, smart buildings, and telecom carriers. Sebastien Kiekert Le Moult, managing partner of Syntagma, stated that offering the foundation for data management is an interesting potential.
Despite a tough M&A market, they continue to identify excellent investment opportunities and provide sellers with divestiture services for complicated carve outs where time and clarity are of the key. This purchase is their most recent spin-off and exemplifies Syntagma's approach to buy firms that will profit from a new owner driving the next growth sector. Willkie Farr & Gallagher advised Syntagma on legal matters, while PwC offered financial, legal, tax, and social guidance. ERM consulted on ESG and EHS problems, while Roland Berger assisted with commercial and strategic planning. Earlier in 2022, Nexans earned $213 million in revenue in more than 100 countries, employing over 680 employees across eight facilities in Belgium, France, Greece, Germany, Morocco, and China.
