Abilene Hall, Hardin-Simmons University's main structure, has been enlarged, and a data center has been added. Abilene Hall's new 7,000-square-foot extension will be dedicated to the university's engineering faculty on August 29. The building will consist of three stories, with lab space on the first, lecture halls on the second, and a computer laboratory, student lounge, and data center on the third.
This is not the university's first campus-based data center. Last year, Hardin-Simmons University inaugurated the Brian Cargile Data Center, named after a cherished employee. The institution did not disclose the capacity or extent of either data center.
Abilene Hall's construction and renovation were made possible by a $1.5 million anonymous donation characterized by the university as coming from a "very generous foundation."
