Microsoft just gained approval from Hoffman Estates village board members to build a data center outside of Chicago, Illinois. The approved data center building is one of the two planned buildings at the 53-acre site. A 250,000 square feet building would be erected at the first phase while the second face will see Microsoft erect a 150,000 square feet building.
An on-site electrical substation has also been proposed as Microsoft currently has the infrastructure to support only 60% of the first building’s power capacity.
