Meta is developing a €1 billion ($1.1bn) data center campus in Spain. The social media giant says the facility will be developed near Talavera de la Reina, in the Toledo region. Emiliano Garcia-Page, the socialist president of Toledo, was happy about the development and said the project would greatly benefit the region. Meta will build the data center on the Torrehierro Polygon Industrial Estate at Talavera, which is over 100KM from Madrid. According to reports available to us, the project will be developed by 2023, but it won’t become fully operational until 2029.

According to Garcia-Page, Meta will be acquiring two million square meters of land in the region. He noted that the move will see Meta make use of all the vacant industrial land in the region in “one swoop.” Meta will also create 1,000 jobs during the construction stage. It will also provide 250 full-time jobs when it becomes fully operational.
