Facebook Kuna ID: Meta moves into Kuna, Idaho

Meta is continuing its expansion as it moves into Kuna, Idaho, with a 960,000 sqft facility. The giant is injecting $800 million into the project and intends to break ground on the facility in September 2022, which is expected to continue through to 2025. The facility will be the largest of its kind in the area, and this addition will also be the social media firm's 15th data center in the US and 19th globally.
Commenting on its expansion into Idaho, Darcy Nothnagle, director of community and economic development at Meta, said: "Kuna is a great place to call home and we are committed to investing in the community's long-term vitality. We look forward to having a strong, fruitful partnership for years to come."
According to the company, it is "committed" to positive contributions in the communities it has a presence in. Moreover, it reports that it will invest in both renewable energy and water restoration projects in the area and participate in Idaho Power's Clean Energy Your Way program. Speaking about how the company will actually act on its pledges, the company announced it would work with Idaho Power to "develop and implement" a new green tariff that will enable companies to support their operations with 100% renewable energy. Likewise, Meta is also investing $50 million in a new water and sewer system for Kuna.
Kuna Mayor, Joe Stear expressed hope that this development will be a "catalyst for expanding the city's ability to support well-paying jobs and attract other industrial and manufacturing users the Kuna."
