Spain: Merlin breaks ground on Bilbao, Spain data center

Merlin Properties has announced that it is soon to break ground on its first data center located near Bilbao, Spain. The Iberian real estate company reportedly laid its first stone at the Arasur data center, based near Vitoria, last week. This announcement is part of an almost €600 million ($606m) investment to develop 70MW in two phases.
The company is reportedly developing four facilities in Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, and Lisbon in partnership with green energy startup Edged Energy.
Although the initial target is to build 70MW, the company has outlined that its capacity could reach 240MW in the future. That said, the first 3MW module is intended to launch next year, however when fully built out, it could total 100MW spanning 17,600 square meters (189,400 sq ft).
