MDC Data Centers has invested $3.4 million to modernize its MCA2 data center in McAllen, Texas. Over the course of 2022, the company purchased equipment from Bud Griffin & Associates, which also provided MDC with its expertise and resources. MCA2 is a Tier III colocation facility with 1MW of power. It was originally built in 1990 and will be converted into a data center in 2020. MDC also operates MCA1 at the Chase Tower carrier hotel in McAllen, Texas. In December 2022, Critical Systems Realty and Harrison Street acquired Chase Tower. The 17-story Chase Tower spans over 209,000 square feet.
Since 1972, Bud Griffin & Associates (BG&A) has distributed Liebert and Vertiv products in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. In addition to providing the products, BG&A offers service technicians in each territory to assist with product maintenance. MDC maintains seven data centers on the U.S.-Mexico border to improve border interconnectivity and offers Inernation Fiber Crossings infrastructure as part of its service. The company is constructing data facilities in San Diego, California, and Eagle Pass, Texas, and is scheduled to go online later this year.
