Magnora to Launch 1MW Data Center in Oslo, Norway

European data center firm Magnora plans to develop a new facility in Oslo, Norway. Euronext Oslo-listed Magnora Data Center has formed a 50:50 joint venture with Blix Group AS and acquired a commercial property near Oslo for conversion into an AI data center. The site, formerly used by the Norwegian Payment Clearing House, has existing power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure. It will initially have 1MW of power capacity, with studies indicating potential to scale to 9MW.

"This joint-venture project gives us fast, capital-light access to AI data center capacity in metro Oslo, together with a partner who already has technical staff, power and cooling in place in the same building. This also complements our Storespeed offering in Halden, Norway," said Erik Sneve, chairman of Magnora Data Center ASA.

Founded in 2008, Blix provides colocation services across data centers in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, Amsterdam, and New York. Its existing Blix NR5 Oslo facility is in the same building and offers up to 3MW across 1,000 sqm, with space for around 144 racks. Magnora entered the data center sector last year after focusing on renewable energy since 2018. The company now has a 585MW development portfolio across nine sites and a 2.7GW pipeline spanning 50 projects across Europe and South Africa.
