LightEdge has announced the acquisition of underground data center firm Cavern Technologies. Cavern Technologies was founded in 2007, and it has a 3 million square foot underground facility outside of Kansas City in its portfolio. The facility is in the Meritex Caves in Lenexa, outside Kansas City. The underground facility has over 160,000 square feet of completed hosting space. Aside from that, it also has the capacity to expand up to 700,000 square feet. Again, it has over 50MW of power available which is fed through two substations.

The acquisition comes after GI Partners acquired LightEdge. CEO of LightEdge, Jim Masterson, said the acquisition of Cavern Technologies helps unlock new opportunities for the company. LightEdge did not reveal the transaction details, but Masterson said the company is happy about the prospect of future acquisitions.

LightEdge Solutions has 16 sites in 9 regions.
