KPMG plans to invest $2 billion over the next five years in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services in partnership with Microsoft. The global expansion of the 'Big Four' accounting firm's relationship with Microsoft is anticipated to generate up to $12 billion in revenue over the next five years. This sum would represent approximately seven percent of the company's global annual revenue, which reached $34.6bn last year.

By increasing its investments in AI and cloud computing, KPMG will be able to automate its tax, audit, and consulting services, as well as assist its employees in conducting quicker analyses. The company will utilize Microsoft 365 Copilot, a proprietary AI assistant, and continue using OpenAi via the Azure cloud platform. Additionally, it is anticipated that KPMG will be able to streamline its ESG reporting by analyzing transactions more efficiently thanks to AI.

This is not the firm's first significant investment in technology. In 2019, KPMG invested $5 billion in "general technology," of which 20 percent went directly to Microsoft, and the remainder was used, among other things, for cloud migration.
