Google Cloud and Japanese super bank Mizuho Financial Group have signed a strategic partnership. The agreement will see the Japanese firm shift some of its services to the cloud. This move comes after the company experienced multiple serious outages in 2021. The group CEO and president of Mizuho, Masahiro Kihara, said the pandemic caused a major disruption in the norm and significant trends like the aging population and digitalization have led to major changes in our economies and lifestyle. Kihara further added that the company is working with Google to improve its operational capabilities, transform its corporate culture, and innovate across its mobile and online channels.

The agreement will see the two companies develop a new digital marketing platform on Google Cloud. The platform would also be integrated with Google Analytics. Next, new digital financial service offerings would be developed. In addition, Google Cloud’s security engineering team will help bolster Mizuho’s security.
