Impulsa Galicia, a public-private partnership from the Galician local government, has announced that it has partnered with Ingenostrum for a carbon-neutral data center project. The project is set to see an investment of €400m ($424m), and will see Ingenostrum assess the feasibility of a carbon-neutral 15MW data center. This project is in addition to the 150MW data center, Ingenostrum was previously involved in, which is being built in Cáceres, Spain.
Impulsa Galicia director Enyd Lopez said the data center is one of the projects included in the Pole for the Transformation of Galicia, which Lopez said is making progress in achieving a digital and sustainable economic model. He added: “We developed an innovative idea, we turned it into a tractor project and found it a technologist and investor so that it could prosper outside of our umbrella."
Santiago Rodríguez, CEO of Ingenostrum, said: "This is a very exciting project for Ingenostrum because it consolidates us as a leading company in the conceptualization of data centers."
According to the company, the project would employ around 300 people. No deadlines have yet been shared regarding this project.
