Hawaii Pacific Teleport, a US teleport company, will sell its assets to Calian Group (HPT). HPT was established in 1998 and is based on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The site is home to more than 15 antennas, with the largest measuring 15.5 meters and functioning in the C, Ku, Ka, and X bands. AlohaNAP, a data facility partnership with 1547 Critical Systems Realty, is also housed on the property. Calian said last week that it had signed a legally binding deal to buy HPT's assets for up to $46 million.
Calian offers engineering, IT & cyber, industrial production, health, and defensive system solutions and services. It was established in Canada in 1982. According to the firm, the inclusion of HPT enables the group to provide satellite operators throughout the world with a comprehensive range of services, including design, installation, and teleport services. The merger of HPT into the Calian Advanced Technologies (AT) space department will be facilitated by Leeana Smith-Ryland, who will continue in her role as HPT's CEO.
Subject to the customary regulatory clearances, the deal is anticipated to completion by the third quarter of 2023. With earnouts of up to $11 million dependent on financial performance over the following 24 months, the first payment will be $35 million. AlohaNAP is a data center provider with 8,350 square feet of data center space, 1,850 square feet of support space, and a network operations center (NOC) in Kapolei at 91-340 Farrington Highway. The data center, formerly known as Hawaii Pacific Data, was first announced in 2013 and opened its doors in 2015.
