Google: Google to expand its New Albany data center campus in Ohio

Google has announced that it will expand its New Albany data center campus in Ohio with an injection of $1 billion. It first broke ground on the campus back in 2019, and the project has seen $600 million of investment already. On top of its capacity expansion at the New Albany campus, the tech giant has also acquired 618 acres of property to construct more data centers. This includes 500 acres in Columbus and approximately 120 acres in Lancaster. This expansion will see a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) region established in Columbus.

Commenting on the company's expansion, New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding said: "New Albany welcomed Google's first Ohio data center in 2019, and has seen the positive impact Google has on our local economy. We are thrilled to see Google continue to invest and grow in our community."

Meanwhile, Reginald Mcknight, Google's Regional Head of External Affairs & Community Development, said: "We're proud to be an Ohio company and excited about the opportunity to continue our growth in the state. With its business-friendly environment, central location, and skilled workforce, we're excited to be part of the thriving community that is continuing to chart a new path for Ohio's economy."
