Google has announced that it has signed a new 10-year PPA with Eneco, a Dutch utility company, for 0.5TW/h of power, with a capacity of 153MW across the lifespan of the deal.

The two wind farms the energy will be sourced from are the Fryslân offshore wind farm and the Kroningswind onshore wind farm, which offer 328MW and 80MW, respectively. The giant will receive 288 GWh of electricity each year from the Fryslan complex, from its 73.5 MW capacity. While at Kroningswind, it will be sourced from 79.8 MW of capacity, producing 227 GWh per year.

Martijn Bertisen, the vice president of Google Netherlands said that the digital and green transformation go "hand in hand," and the company's ambition to "run completely on carbon-free energy by 2030," will require "intensive cooperation" with major energy companies such as Eneco, which he outlined is jointly committed to long-term sustainable energy goals."

Meanwhile, Kees-Jan Rameau, COO integrated energy at Eneco, said the deal will help the giant to reach its energy neutral goals: “This is a valuable goal that Eneco is happy to contribute to by supplying sustainable energy, together with the wind farms Fryslân and Kroningswind."

Adding:" We are accelerating the energy transition with large impactful companies such as Google, which actively contribute to making energy systems more sustainable.”
