Google has announced the development of a new Request for Proposal (RFP) system in collaboration with LevelTen Energy which it said will reduce the time required to sign a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This development comes from Google to simplify RFPs for PPAs which it said are "lengthy, complex, and unique to every buyer and seller," lasting between ten months to over a year.

Its new procurement approach, which it has outlined is scalable, reportedly breaks down RFP barriers, shortening the process down to as little as two months. With the approach, sellers are enabled greater flexibility regarding offsetting risks, with terms regarding this agreed upon when they submit the proposal.

Speaking about this and the challenges around traditional RFPs, Google said: "Even before buyers and sellers enter into negotiations, traditional RFPs create an information imbalance between parties. Uncertainty and unpredictability create delicate conditions that can increase the complexity of negotiations between parties down the line."
