Google has announced the launch of its new cloud region in Columbus, Ohio. The company noted that the new cloud region (us-east5) would provide users with the availability and speed needed to serve local customers, innovate quicker, and develop high-performing applications. Google first announced plans for the new region in December 2021.

The Columbus region is the company’s second region in the Midwest and the tenth in North America. It is also its 33rd region worldwide. In addition, Google will also launch a new US region in Dallas, Texas, before the year runs out. Google also has plans for a new data center campus in Columbus.
