Google has opened its new cloud region in Santiago, Chile. The company first announced plans for the region in December 2020. The region is now Google’s second cloud region in South America as it opened one in São Paulo in 2017. Just like all Google’s regions, the Chile region has three availability zones for redundancy. According to Google, some of the customers of the new region include Latam Airlines, Red Salud, Caja Los Andes, and Notco.

President of Google Cloud for Latin America, Eduardo Lopez, said Latin America is a major region for Google Cloud. He added that the company would continue focusing on improving innovation while helping customers digitally transform themselves. Lopez noted that the new region on Santiago would allow companies in the region to take advantage of Google Cloud’s on-demand network easier and faster.
